On 1 January 2018, Eco-systèmes and Récylum merged forming ESR and a new united operational organisation was established within this new take-back scheme operator. The purpose of this merger was to accelerate the development of collection with high quality recycling by leveraging synergies in both organisations in order to achieve ambitious regulatory collection targets and continue developing a high added-value sector.
ESR has continued to capitalise on both the Eco-systèmes and Récylum brands: Eco-systèmes coordinates the collection, decontamination and recycling of household electrical and electronic equipment. Récylum coordinates the collection, decontamination and recycling of lamps, professional electrical and electronic equipment and small fire extinguishers at the end of their service life.
