In Guadeloupe nearly 60 tonnes of lamps were collected in 2018 The sector has become sustainable thanks to the development of new stores. However, due to the cyclones Irma at St Martin and then Maria in Guadeloup, the beginning of the year was quiet. The network now has 69 collection points, i.e. 10 extra collection points thanks to work carried out with the stores.
In Martinique, 6 new collection points were created in 2018 (2 municipal recycling facilities, 1 at the town hall and 3 at retailer sites) and lamp collection increased by nearly 30%. For the Reunion Island, 2018 was a special year as all of ESR’s services were suspended due to a lack of containers. The SICR thereby worked on slowing down collection from the premises awaiting collection, on being in contact with all stakeholders and on monitoring collection and service-providers. Collection was started up again on 10 December. Lastly more than 1.5 tonnes of lamps were collected in Mayotte.
